Victor Harbor getaway

We took Saki to the Middleton shack this long weekend and did the touristy things – Urimbirra Wildlife Park, walk up the Bluff, horse-drawn tram ride to Granite Island, fairy penguin night tour, sandcastles on the beach.

The rainbow lorikeets were a big hit, although not as popular as feeding the kangaroos…or should I say taking photos of the kangaroos. They had guinea pigs and sheep as part of the ‘farmyard’ section. The sign was displayed on the crocodile enclosure. The view from the top of the Bluff was of blue sea and blue sky.

2/3rds of a 6 bed rotating vegie patch

On the weekend we had access to a trailer and so we took all the bricks from the back of mum & dad’s house, and about 100 from work mates and created a stock pile.

From the roughly 200 bricks, we laid out 4 long beds. The washing line and tree are in the way, but the idea is there.

In the future, we would like to have 6 beds so that we can rotate the vegies.

We started making some paths from old carpet, but haven’t finished. Likewise with the stepping stone brick path – not yet finished.

Looking after…

It’s just as well we have solid side gates and a larged grassed backyard because we are now looking after Jed.

We may have to put vegetable garden plans on hold for a month unless we fence everything off. Jed enjoys running up and down the yard and chasing after the tennis balls. So much to explore!

We bought a house!

So we finally got a house. It has everything that we wanted – enough bedrooms, entertaining space, a big yard (an 800 sqm block), a band room (a.k.a. garage), built ins and is close enough that we can still ride to our work places if we want to (20 mins to get to and from school whee!).

This is what the front yard looked like when we moved in:
